Greenock Wanderers RFC recently played a rugby match against Strathmore RFC at their home ground during a freezing cold day. A highly competitive match with both teams playing with a lot of passion making it a very exciting game to photograph.
For this type of sports photography ideally a prime or zoom lens with a wide aperture is available to let in as much light without having to resort to ramping up the ISO. I used a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 and Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 for this event along with the highly reliable Nikon Z8 and Nikon Zf to ensure the images captured are always sharp. The two cameras allowed me to take shots of the action  the whole pitch and capture scenes of celebration (or tears) close up.
Here are just some of the shots PFW Photography took at this match.
